I began directing the Bloomfield United Methodist Church Choir in the 1970s because they were in need of a director and I had degrees in music education. I quickly developed a real love for the job, the wonderful singers we had in the congregation, and the meaningful worship experiences that grew out of immersing ourselves in sacred choral music.
Now that I am no longer teaching music for Davis County Schools, I find I enjoy choir even more. By mid-week, it is wonderful to be able to take a break from the stress of publishing a newspaper, go to rehearsal, and make music for the glory of God.
Christ Community Church Choir is such an enthusiastic, energetic group of singers, and it seems this group is capable of singing anything! I think surely God is guiding us every step of the way as we prepare music for worship every Sunday from September through may.
If you enjoy singing, please come and join us for lots of fun, music making, and inspiration.
Rehearsals are 6 p.m. in the Davis County High School Music Room every Wednesday evening. We meet at 9:25 a.m. at the Mutchler Center to warm up for the 10 a.m. Sunday morning services. The first rehearsal this fall is set for Sept. 4.
